Jamie was born in
Seattle, Washington and moved to Gainesville, FL at two years of
age. She grew up in Gainesville attending First Presbyterian
Preschool, Martha Manson Academy, Wiles Elementary school, Fort
Clarke Middle School, and Eastside High School. She attended The
Bolles School in Jacksonville during her junior and senior year and
graduated in 1995.
It was at Martha Manson
Academy that Jamie met two of her bridesmaids Zabel Thurdekoos and
Carrie Boyles. Jamie began swimming year round at age 7 but also
played tennis, participated in gymnastics and diving and took piano
and violin lessons. Jamie swam competitively through both
her high school and college years. She was awarded a full scholarship to
the University of Southern California and attended school there for
her first three years of college, where, as a freshman, the USC
women's swim team won the NCAA Swimming Championship. After spending
three years in south central LA, she came
back to Florida and finished a Bachelors in Business Administration
degree and swam for the University of Florida Gators. During this time she
met her maid of honor Sharon Rzadkowolski-Raoli, who swam with her
at UF in the distance lane. After graduation, Jamie returned to the
University of Florida for a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Jamie has
now been working as a nurse for over 4 years, and currently
works at Tampa General Hospital.
